The 13 Moon Walk 4 Peace announces the Peacemakers’ Walk of Honor on 11-11-11 as a part of the final leg of the 13 month, 60 cities and reservations peace walk, 13 Moon Walk 4 Peace. The Walk of Honor will begin at Freedom Park in Atlanta, GA on 11-11-11 (November 11, 2011) @ 10am and end at The King Center by the Martin Luther King, Jr, Eternal Flame, by 11:11am. Peace groups are invited to join us on the walk from Freedom Park to The King Center.
The Peacemakers’ Walk of Honor celebrates people in communities around the country who are making a difference. We salute our Peacemaker Honorees for their commitment to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his passion for the “Beloved Community”; a sustainable future for all people; and our diverse traditions and cultures. Friends and residents of Atlanta are invited to join the walkers and honorees as they complete their USA walk for peace and healing in our communities, on 11-11-11, in Atlanta, Georgia.
The 13 Moon Walk 4 Peace began in Atlanta, GA at the King Center on 10-10-10 (October 10, 2010) and will conclude in Atlanta, GA on 11-11-11 (November 11, 2011). By the conclusion of the walk on 11-11-11, the 13 Moon Peace Walkers will have visited over 60 cities and reservations around America.
Today, the 13 Moon Walk 4 Peace team recognizes heroes in communities across America who are making a difference by: 1. Helping those in need in their communities;
2. Preserving tradition and culture;
3. Giving voice to the voiceless and visibility to the invisible; and
4. Creating a sustainable future with reverence for Mother Earth.
Please put the date, November 11, 2011 on your schedule. The weekend will begin with the official walk into Atlanta, GA on 11-11-11, followed by a press conference and Peacemaker’s Walk of Honor reception and celebration that evening.
The 13 Moon Walk 4 Peace will also sponsor the Atlanta Sleep Out to raise awareness about homelessness in America. This will take place on the evening of 11-12-11, and you are invited to join the team.
